APPROACH TO THERAPY

There are many different theories and ways of practicing therapy. As a Clinical Social Worker, I have been trained in many theories.  Personally and professionally, I prefer some more than others. I would not say that I practice any one theory, but rather a combination of theories. My approach will depend upon who is in my office and what are the presenting issues. I do not believe one psychological theory fits all people or all problems.

One thing that I value across the board, is meeting clients where they are, listening well, being non-judgmental and allowing room to explore the past, present or future, as it is most relevant. You are allowed to cry, express anger and even laugh in therapy. I am not afraid to challenge you and you can expect that. I will always do this because I care for you and your growth. And equally, I will support and encourage you in the therapy process.
