HOW TO PREPARE FOR THERAPY

Often times, people feel anxious meeting a therapist for the first time. Coming in and talking to a perfect stranger about personal things is naturally not easy. However, this first session is about going over the intake information, policies and your questionnaire that was sent ahead of time through my secure client portal.

As therapy progress, typically people become more comfortable and diving in a little deeper is a common part of the process.  As we move along in the therapeutic process, it is very important to have goals in mind and to be making progress toward these goals.

Honesty is very important in therapy. It is not uncommon for people to lie to their therapist or not to tell the full truth. This will only hinder your progress. I work to create a therapeutic environment that feels safe to talk about things that may otherwise feel uncomfortable or bring on shame or embarrassment. It is a safe place to be vulnerable.
